PE Days

Mr Nicholls

We hope that you had a fantastic half term break and we look forward to hearing all about the adventures you have been on. We are delighted to return to school for the second half of the autumn term.

Children In Need

This term in year 6, English will begin with units on narrative writing while Maths will focus on pupils developing written methods and arithmetic skills. Children will continue to receive discrete Phonics lessons twice a week in order to boost reading skills and we shall continue our whole school focus on handwriting. Children will bring home their reading and library book each day along with their reading journals as well as a homework book. Children will receive spellings from their class teacher each week. Your continued support in helping your children at home with these tasks is greatly appreciated. Class spellings will be given out and tested on a Wednesday.

Children need a PE kit (consisting of navy blue shorts, a blue top and pumps/trainers) in school at all times. As jewellery should not be worn for PE sessions, it is advisable to leave jewellery items at home on these days. It is also advisable to clearly label all of your child’s uniform with their name to prevent lost property confusion.

We have some fantastic topics planned for science, history, art and computing this term including exploring the Aztecs, life processes, structures and pop art.

We look forward to working with you to ensure your child has a pleasurable and valuable autumn term. This is a crucial year for year 6 to make excellent progress in all areas of the curriculum.  If you have any concerns or worries, please arrange a time to speak to the class teacher, as you play a vital role in your child’s education.
