Abuse and Neglect
Abuse is a form of maltreatment of a child and may involve inflicting harm or failing to act to prevent harm.
Neglect is a form of abuse and is the persistent failure to meet a child’s basic physical and/or psychological needs, likely to result in the serious impairment of the child’s health or development.
Types of Abuse: Physical, Emotional, Sexual and Neglect.
If you have concerns that a child you know is at risk of serious harm through Abuse or Neglect it is important that you report your worries to the correct agency.

Wolverhampton Safeguarding Together convenes safeguarding partners, West Midlands Police, Black Country Integrated Care Board and Local Authority, alongside Education and the Voluntary Sector to work in close collaboration to safeguard and promote the welfare of all children, young people and adults with care and support needs in Wolverhampton.
WST ensures that all organisations that work with children work together to keep children and young people safe from harm. WST undertakes this role through providing training, the development of policies and procedures and awareness raising.
