FRED's Teaching

FRED’s Teaching was created in 2021 by teacher and reading expert Kieron Murphy and it provides a wide range of engaging reading resources.

Lessons are carefully planned so that children are supported or challenged as needed, and FRED’s Teaching helps us deliver high-quality, teacher-led reading lessons for all pupils. Children enjoy exploring a wide range of texts, films and documentaries throughout the year, including those linked to events such as International Women’s Day, Black History Month, and the work of both male and female poets.

From Year 2 onwards, children take part in regular whole-class reading sessions, where they develop their understanding of texts as well as their reading fluency and comprehension skills.
