We hope that you and your children are well, and we would like to welcome everyone back as we begin our final Summer term in Reception.
The children have had a very busy year so far, settling into school life, building strong friendships and developing a wide range of new skills. We are incredibly proud of the progress they have made during both the Autumn and Spring terms. As we move into the Summer term, we will be focusing on preparing the children for their transition into Year 1, continuing to build their confidence, independence and love of learning.
Throughout this term, your child will continue to learn through a mixture of teacher-led, teacher-guided and child-initiated activities, both indoors and outdoors. Therefore, please ensure that your child brings a suitable coat each day, as outdoor learning remains an important part of our curriculum.
The children will continue to explore the outdoor environment and take part in woodland activities each week, which will take place on Monday or Tuesday.
PE will continue to take place every Tuesday and Wednesday. PE kits will remain in school until the end of term. We recommend including both indoor and outdoor footwear, as well as a tracksuit for cooler days.
At Palmers Cross, we encourage all children to become independent learners, so please ensure that all clothing, shoes and bags are clearly labelled with your child’s name.
As this is the children’s final term in Reception, we will also be preparing for a special end-of-year graduation celebration. More details will be shared closer to the time, but we look forward to celebrating the children’s achievements with you.We operate an open door policy, so please do not hesitate to speak to a member of the Reception team if you have any questions or messages. Staff will be available at classroom doors at 8:30am and at the end of the school day at 3:15pm.
We are looking forward to a fun-filled and memorable final term with the children.
Kind regards,
Miss Cooper and the Early Years Team
