Class 6 Egyptian Day!

Class 6 had an unforgettable Egyptian Day, stepping back in time to discover the fascinating world of the Ancient Egyptians.

The day began with an exciting session led by an archaeologist, where the children learned how Ancient Egypt was formed, why the River Nile was so important, and explored the lives of the pharaohs, pyramids, food, inventions and the lasting legacy of this incredible civilisation.

The children also enjoyed a hands-on maths activity using traditional Egyptian cubit measures, wrote their names in hieroglyphics, discovered the importance of the Rosetta Stone, and even played an authentic Ancient Egyptian board game.

In the afternoon, the archaeologist transformed into a high priest, guiding the children through the fascinating mummification process. They learned about Egyptian gods, beliefs about the afterlife, and even took part in a funeral procession. One of the highlights of the day was having the chance to wrap each other's arms in linen bandages, just as the Ancient Egyptians would have done during mummification.
