Children in Class 2 had a fantastic time celebrating their ' Land Ahoy!'  topic with a special Pirate Day. Although we didn’t capture many photos, the day was packed with activities. The highlight was creating our very own cardboard treasure chests, where the children put their DT skills to great use. They worked carefully to design, build, and decorate their chests, showing brilliant creativity and teamwork throughout the day.

Something exciting has happened! A spaceship has crash landed on our playground. When Class 1 came back to school after half term, they noticed that a mysterious spaceship had crash landed on the playground. They used the clue around the spaceship to figure out who it belonged to and to ask questions.

Our Reception class had a roar-some time on their dinosaur fossil hunt! 🦖 The children explored carefully, digging and brushing to discover hidden fossils. They learned about dinosaurs like Tyrannosaurus Rex and Triceratops, and how fossils help us learn about the past. They even got to see baby dinosaur!

This week we have been learning about César Manrique, a Spanish artist and sculptor. We explored a range of his artworks and shared our opinions about the pieces we liked and disliked. Inspired by his designs, we then created our own plate spinners. We focussed on our painting and cutting skills. Here are some of our final designs.

Thank you to our parents that attended Reflexions Anxiety Workshop. There were some excellent strategies shared for our families to try at home with their children if they are experiencing feelings of anxiety. It was great to work in collaboration with Reflexions. A valuable partnership for our school community.

In History, we’ve been exploring how schools have changed over time, and we were curious to discover what our own school was like 60 years ago. On Tuesday 3rd February, we were lucky enough to welcome a grandparent who first attended Palmers Cross in 1966. Before their visit, we each prepared questions we were eager to have answered. Class 7 have been exploring numbers in multi sensory ways as part of number day.

In Design and Technology, Year 1 pupils designed and built their own houses using recycled materials. They explored different materials and had to make decisions about which were most suitable for construction. Through planning, selecting, and assembling their designs, the children developed early problem-solving skills and began to understand how materials affect structure and stability.

Today we were visited by the RSPCA. As part of our learning about jobs in our community, they talked to us about their role in helping animals and how their job supports the community by keeping animals safe, healthy, and cared for. We learned where different animals can be found and how people can help them. We then worked with a partner to role play caring for animals, thinking carefully about what the animals needed and how we could help them. We shared our ideas with the

On Monday 12th January, the children set off on a lively walk around our local community. Not even the rain could stop their excitement! They explored different types of houses, spotted human and physical features in our community, and had a great time hunting for road signs along the way.

Today Class 8 had a special invitation to attend Andy's birthday party from Woody. They had great fun at the party and were so happy when the birthday present arrived - it was Buzz Lightyear! What a great start to our new topic!

Class 5 had a fantastic day with the Animal Man company learning all about different animals, their habitats and some of the dangers these very animals face. We had the opportunity to handle snakes, owls, skunks, cockroaches and lizards to name a few. We all had a brilliant time exploring them and some of us even conquered our fears!

Today, Class 2 had the fantastic opportunity to welcome The Animal Man into school. The children were introduced to a fascinating range of animals, including cockroaches, snakes, owls and lizards. They listened carefully, asked thoughtful questions and gently touched some of the animals while learning interesting facts about them. This exciting experience has kickstarted our new science topic, Animals, including Humans , and provided a fantastic learning opportunity!
